Why are cat owners not held up to the same standards as other pet owners?

If you let your untrained dog outside with no supervision, or refused to walk it on a leash, you'd be considered lazy

If you let your bird or rodent outside of its cage without supervision in an unsafe environment, you'd be considered neglectful

Why is doing these things suddenly okay when the pet is a cat?

Let a cat go out the gate and then let a fog do the same. Both unsupervised.

You'll see who lasts longer on nearly all occasions. Might have something to do with humans encouraging an animals intrinsic behaviour.

That's not to say it isn't irresponsible. Who knows?

Because people who keep felines on a leash should be shot.

most people that study zoology probably don't work in a related field. Jobs are scarce and don't pay.

Among my friends I have one that studied biology and works as a high school teacher. Another of my buddies studied herpetology and works in industrial wastewater treatment.

If I'm doing 50% water changes from dosing EI ferts is it ok to use room temperature tap water? I am working with a 50 gal tank and only have a few 5 gallon buckets, so keeping 25 gallons of cold tap water and letting it heat up to tank temperature would be difficult.

How old, typically, are the rainbow sharks you pick up at pet stores? Just got my first shark yesterday, and he's probably less than an inch and a half long. How long does it normally take for them to reach their full size?

Hey /an/

I have become very curious recently on whether or not my cat is of the Siberian breed.

I have seen a cat that looks absolutely identical to him, who is one and that is where my wonder started.

We had adopted him from the pound around 8 months ago, He was brought in after his owners were arrested and sent to jail, so its not like he was a stray at all.

I figured I better ask you guys, as oppose to Yahoo Answers.

his instagram if you wish to check it out is @kinglouthecat

Pic is an anery palmetto corn snake. The palmetto gene is a very rare mutation that was found, as I understand it, in a single wild caught male corn. It is single recessive. And yes, they are still crazy expensive. Pic is anerythristic + palmetto to achieve the grey/black scales.

Many states like Tennessee and New York are turning to this as a solution to prevent animals abuse, but it also serves the dual purpose of

This law, if signed into effect, will not last. Michigan is one of those states, too, where these laws get made and dumped in a matter of years because no one wants to put up with it, rather, the people getting in trouble, won't put up with it.

What is /an/'s views on "no bark collars"? I have a dog that sleeps in the other room (no room for his crate in my bedroom), and he barks at night about 30 minutes after I put him up.

Personally, I don't want to use one if it'll hurt my dog, but I don't want to react to his barking by coming in to the room he's in. Any suggestions?
32 replies and 4 images submitted. Click here to view.
>>
Personally not a fan. Barking is your dogs main way of communicating. It's like if someone put that on you but whenever you talked, it'd shock you. Kinda puts a damper on things doesn't it?
That being said, I've definitely seen dogs (or maybe more precisely, owners) That could use a bark collar.
>>
Forgot to add, I live in an apartment, and I want to nip this behavior in the bud before I get complaints from neighbors.
>>
Anything that shuts a dog up is a good thing. If you can't silence it with play, silence it with shocks. And if that doesn't work, leave your apartment so someone considerate can move in.

Beautiful animals must fit on at least three of these categories:
1. Wild
2. Exotic
3. Colorful
4. From the tropical rainforest
5. Makes loud but pleasant noises
6. Have long necks and/or legs
7. Aquatic/marine
8. Have "frill-like" extensions
Examples: Peafowl, okapi, parrots, giraffe, jaguar, maned wolf, sea swallow, horse

Beautiful animals are different from cute animals, such as puppies, kittens and chicks.
Non-beautiful animals such as tortoises and crows can still be pleasing to look at.

Now, don't go calling any...

It's definitely a good thing that he's not on tv, or else they'd have to have some stupid drama bullshit to deal with every episode because that's all that 'Murricans will watch now, apparently.
