Looks tasty.
I'm alone in a flat. I live on the 9th floor, so i'm afraid of getting a cat in case of it jumping out a window after a fly (happened to my neighbour) and I just don't get along with Dogs. I want a house pet that is reletively easy to train and isn't all that large. I'm thinking of getting a Micro-Pig because:
A) They're fucking adorable
B) Supposed to be smarter than dogs
C) I hope, grow to be about the size of a Jack Russell.
If anyone owns a pig, can they tell me if B and C are true? And any advice to a budding Pig-owner?
Micropigs will not stay that small. Not unless you plan on starving it so it doesn't have the nutrients to grow
>>2085356
How big do they usually grow to be, then? I found a few sources that said Jack Russell sized, around 3 foot tall, 4 foot long-ish.
>>2085360
Pigs really aren't great pets, anon. I know some people with them. Yes they are cute and fun to rub their bellies but they don't really give a fuck about you, they're independent, destructive and intelligent, don't like to be picked up or messed with, don't really 'play'. It's a one sided relationship and its tiring to do so much for them and have them give you nothing back.
Plus 'micro-pigs' is a joke. You'd be lucky to find one that will grow to the...

Bit of a long shot, but I figured SOMEONE on this board must have done this before...
Does anyone have any experience with making a skeleton? We're in the middle of extending our house at the moment, and I'm getting a huge study with the extension. I'd love a display piece of two to go alongside my desk, and as I'm a vet student, I really fancy some anatomy.
Now, I've got a couple of plastic anatomy figures, but I drive past road kill on a daily basis: how easy is it to make a real skeleton display? I want to make one for my summer project...

There was a pretty good vulture culture thread a while back though no instructions on skeleton assembly. I don't know shit myself but I lurk because it seems cool.

>>2084181
Oh, ta! I didn't see that thread: will go and give it a read now. Hopefully some of the people on that thread are lurking about.
I'm with you that it's pretty cool, we have a dog and a cat skeleton (pick related) in our study rooms at Uni, and they're absolutely fascinating to look at. Some of the smaller skeletons we've got at Uni are absolutely beautiful (for instance we've got a mole and it's paws are amazing.)

There's two parts to your project: cleaning the skeleton and articulating it.
For cleaning it, your best bet is to cultivate a dermestid beetle box. Remember to NEVER try to clean bones in hot water, as it drives the fat/grease into the bones and yellows them. Cleaning the carcass is the annoying and tedious part.
Articulating the skeleton with pins and wires is the fun part. It would help if you got a little rotary tool like a Dremel to make wee holes to run the wires and pins.

Which dog race has the least health problems? All the dogs I like have some sort of fucking problem.
>corgi
>long back no good
>german shepherd
>hindlegs bred to shit
>bull terrier
>autistic
Are there any normal dogs?
The brown recluse.
Greyhounds.
>>2084111
Buy a mutt
Lives longer
More healthy
But you should know the race of the parents, a 1/2 pitbull still needs to be trained with respect for it's temperament
Okay /an/, if you could have any animal (real animals only, nothing mythical) as a pet, what would you choose, and why?
My choice would be a red fox. They're gorgeous, highly intelligent, playful, soft, and can be trained (not quite as much as dogs, but more than cats).
>>2083033
Red fox here, too. Hopefully more strides are made in domestication
>>2083039
OP here.
There was a series of studies done on silver foxes in Russia a while back, where they bred them for generations, domesticating them. When the money ran out, they had to close the study, and sell the remaining foxes, who were now basically as domesticated as dogs.
>>2083033
not as pets but I'd love to have more corvids around my house
If you got an akita, what would you name it?
(Male names only pls)
I have an Akita mix currently that is male, and he is called Kobi. But that's a terrible name, don't do that.
If I had a second male Akita, I suppose I would be looking at names like Tei or Hayabusa or Ume.
>>2082341
I name all my dogs after Avengers. Yes I'm that autistic. It would depend on the coat/markings and personality.
>>2082341
Name him whatever you feel comfortable with
He doesn't care--he's a dog
The fact that you don't know what to name him
And the fact you're obviously trying to be cute or creative
In a futile attempt to impress people
Makes me believe you bought this dog for selfish reasons
http://www.cbsnews.com/news/genetic-modifying-of-beagles-a-controversial-practice-in-china/
>beagle
Why?
>>2081069
Probably because they realized it's one of the more unhealthy breeds and it's one of the top 10 dogs people buy.
>>2081082
Beagles are incredibly popular as lab dogs because of how docile and tolerant they are. They are even bred specifically to be lab dogs.
Found this grasshopper while watering my plants. I've never seen this kind, so I'm wondering if anyone knows what kind of species it is? It's also missing a leg so I can still take pictures.
More pics
People can help identify it more if you can say what part of the world you are in
Fork-tailed Bush Katydid nymph.
Can someone tell me what kind of breed my dog is? Rescued her from some scumbags that let their cat outside
Looks like a husky or a malamute.

you fucking dink this is a dachshund.
fucking amateurs

Your thread is bad and you should feel bad
Hello all. Does anyone know what type of dog this is?its not a German Shepard because he's to small and he's long haired.any help will be welcome. Posting a few pics of him now.
>took my cat to the vet earlier
>she was miserable, seizures daily, breast cancer, severe allergy to fleas
>treatment would have been upwards of $1,000 just for the short term
>had to put her down
RIP Lucy
Bye Lucy
At least she wasn't bitten by a brown recluse. RIP anon's cat.
You did the right thing, RIP.

About how long does it take for a wild caught King snake to become "house broken"
Pic related just caught him in my backyard a few days ago.
>>2084407
kys
I mean house broken in a sense of he won't shit on me and rattle his tail everytime I handle him.
put him back outside and buy a captive bred one if you want a pet snake. kings are cheap anyway and a CB snake will be happier and healthier in captive environment than your wild one will ever be.
