Definitely not a carpet beetle. Maybe some sort of lobster?
Anon, I'm calling on you to prove evolution to me. Not a Christian, or a creationist of any kind, I just don't want to take a theory as fact before thoroughly researching it, and discussing.
>>2088712
watch science talks/opinions/whatever. Come up with your own theory. Profit.
>>2088712
Remember that a scientific theory is not the same as the regular definition of theory.
>A scientific theory is "a well-substantiated explanation of some aspect of the natural world that can incorporate facts, laws, inferences, and tested hypotheses."
Note well substantiated, no guesswork here.
Genetic relationships between organisms, changes in the fossil record over time, transitional fossils, common biochemistry between organisms are some of the facts...

I appreciate the very informative and well thought out comment.Thanks.
But what's with the fuck off?
What is the name of this plant?
How much water needs?
I dunno. looks pretty weird

That's a vagina flap cactus, it can only be nourished by having animals rub their penis on it, then cry on it from the tremendous pain.
Looks like a cactus.
If it is then it wouldn't need much.
...do snakes poop and pee?
No, they process the digested food into squamous (skin) cells which ends up replacing the snake's old skin.
>>2088499
I didn't know snakes were gargoyles.
The cats gone missing before, there are still past signs up. I've messaged the owners when I've seen it hanging around a local creek-walking trail and busy road.
And now tonight I saw a new sign up. Some people don't deserve pets.

Don't ever talk to me or my wife's cat ever again

Any of you guys know where a simple man could find some moth eggs or cocoons suitable for hatching and releasing in the Pacific Northwest/Washington State? Easy maintenance is preferable, they would be my first bugs.
I think carolina biological has them, it's where I bought amphipods once.
Cool!
Post your progress with this project please!

Hey /an/, fa/tg/uy here.
I was wondering if anyone on this board could help with a project I'm currently working on, I'm looking to build a Lovecraftian horror that isn't just copy pasted Cthulhu or one of the other Elder gods, tentacles ad nauseum and for that I need some interesting/terrifying creatures to base it off of.
I'm thinking of going for a more brightly colored, shallows theme, something that would dwell at the bottom of an estuary or reef rather than the depths, but obviously putting interesting sea life into google just gives you a dozen...

Well the most obvious one would be a mantis shrimp.
Other neat things include sea scorpions, horseshoe crabs, wobbegongs, frogfish, etc.
>>2088462
Update us about it! I'm pretty damn interested.

What kind of dog is that?

How do animals know what food is?
When I drop grapes or pills on the floor sometimes, my dog doesn't so much as look at it. Out of curiosity I tried to get my dog to go after a dropped grape once (wasn't going to let him eat it) but he wouldn't even try. But when I drop a chip or some meat or whatever he's all over it like a tiny vacuum cleaner. What gives?
Picture unrelated, old wizard.

Grapes are poisonous to dogs..............
>>2088395
Yeah but how do they know that
Is using nitrous oxide (the laughing gas the dentists give you) a good alternative to using co2 to euthanize rodents? It can kill the same as co2 does but presumably it would have a calming effect that would leave the animal feeling much nicer. Plus, I've heard co2 can really irritate their lungs and nasal passages.
Bump
CO2 makes up around 0.4% of the atmosphere. Death is not something that will be completely humane, unfortunate reality.
>>2088283
yes, it's fine.
CO2 causes a choking sensation before death. It's one of the very few inert gasses that actually hurts you when you suffocate on it.
pretty much anything is better. Carbon monoxide, nitrogen, helium, whatever.
I need to figure out which fish is killing my neon tetras and why.
I have a 55 gallon tank and the guys at PetSmart said the water is fine.
I have a 4" pleco, 4 2" glass catfish, 2 fancy guppies, 1 molly, 1 platy, and had 7 neon tetras.
I came home from work yesterday and the biggest tetra was dead, stuck to the filter with a bite taken out of its abdomen with some scales missing all around its body. I figured it died of old age and the pleco was scavenging it.
I came home today and only 2 of my tetras were swimming around. 2 others were...

Catfish.
They don't fucking play.
>>2088260
Great. Gonna flush them all. Everything I've read has said these glass catfish are peaceful community guys but apparently not. Oh well.
Yea its definitely the catfish those things don't fuck around
You guys ever have any problems with trying to keep your pets from eating the wrong foods? Like I used to have a pet pigeon and it would always try to get at my salted peanuts and dried potatoes. No matter how careful I was it'd always find a way to get at it
>>2088066
My dog always goes for the fish food! She fucking loves it for some reason.
So I tried putting in the cabinet under the aquarium. She figured out how to open the door. Gotta buy more fish food now.

When I was a kid we had this awsome bouvier who would do anything for pumpkin pie. The big dumb teddy bear learned to open doors to get into the room they were cooling off in. Damn now I want to go find a picture os sam. I miss him.

How do I stop my stupid relatives from breeding the dogs
It's a fucking madhouse in here lately. My grandmother has two unspayed females. My mother (with the rest of her litter) just moved in with her and brought her unneutered male. One of the females started her heat a few days before she moved in which brought the second dog into heat recently
Ive been keeping one of the girls in my room but the other one cant be kept with her because they fight. I've been trying to keep the other two separate (one in the house and one in the...

>before you say it, no one wants to pay or put in the effort to get the dogs fixed.
Does this include yourself? Because given the situation, if you think you could get away with taking the male to be fixed (there are usually many low cost options at shelters) without being kicked out or something else extreme, I'd say it's worth pissing them off to avoid puppies.
>>2087782
>without being kicked out or something else extreme
ive thought of it but I dont feel like getting beat for it. She thinks the dog is going to make her money despite the dog being a half-deaf, seizure-y mess(another issue they cheerfully ignore).
>take male to get fixed
>pretend he's run away or been stolen for a couple of days
>have him at a friend's house or board him in the meantime
>HEY GRANDMA I FOUND HIM LOOK
She won't notice the difference. You all win here. Neuters aren't expensive. Just fucking do it.
>inb4 grandma asks why balls are deflated
I'm sure you can come up with some kind of funny story.
Who is the biggest douche in the animal kingdom?
I'd say killer whales. Everything they do seems pretty dickish.
