Let me put it this way. When you're on your deathbed are you going to spend your last seconds lamenting the fact that you couldn't save our crapsack, dying world or are you going to be like "at least I fucking tried."?

Also how hopeless is it to find gainful employment in these fields? Am I going to need some sort of backup career?

Anyone have any clever ideas for cheap dog food toppers to trigger appetite? Something not loaded in sodium.

My girl has no appetite. I've tried 4 different foods. She has reflux and vomits 3x a week because she won't keep her stomach full. Had the vet check her out, complete with blood work and x-rays on common problem areas (looking for pain/discomfort) and nothing. She's as healthy as can be.

But I NEED her to EAT. She is a 1 year old Great Pyrenees, slender as a greyhound, and barely 85lbs. I just hardly think it's necessary to spend so...

Ive never needed to use a topper, but my dogs appetite gets triggered by 2 things, the cat eating food or leftover gravy. Even just a spoonful of gravy and she'll est her whole bowl.
>>
>>2158321

Gravy was the first thing to come to mind. I was really concerned about the nutrition with that, though. I suppose I should look into different kinds
>>
>>2158322
I never really thought about it until now, but you could also add water to thin it out. It might not taste good to us but your dog could love it.

I'm wanting to buy my first puppy, and don't know how to tell what The breeders are like in my area. It's like every website is from 1990 and shirt , or they don't have a website and are only through puppyfind or something. Is there a ways to tell if it's a legit breeder and not some jackass in they're backyard without going there and looking?

Expand your radius

A puppy is literally a decade commitment, if you have to drive four hours it's still worth it. If you can't do the research on your own to determine the difference between a good breeder and a backyard breeder you aren't ready for a dog.
>>
>>2164329
Without going there? Not quite. It's a good idea to check the place out and see the dogs in their early environment, because anyone can lie. Puppy mills are notorious for trying to keep people out of their breeding facility. Don't look for a breeder through puppy search sites, they are puppy mills and mostly scams. Look through the breed club group for breeders. Make sure they do health tests at whatever interval, that they take their dogs back for whatever reason, that they aren't line breeding, etc...

What breed?

You need to start by looking up breed clubs, then you need to look for health testing - so, for example, lets say you want a Irish wolfhound, you'd want a breeder that tests for:
- Elbow dysplasia (ideally O:O)
- Hip dysplasia (abnormal formation of hip joints leading to osteoarthritis. Breed mean score 6 (parents should be lower)
- Eye Disease: Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA) (progressive visual impairment) (annual testing); Multifocal retinal dysplasia (MRD) (annual testing)

hey guys, i don't really come to this board that much but i've found a bird's nest in my back yard that must have fallen from a tree. there are two babies, and i put the nest back up nearby without touching them. i haven't seen their mother any time today and i'm worried that they're getting hungry, but i don't want to feed them anything that would make them sick. would anyone be able to identify what species these are, and what they eat?

So I just hit a squirrel while going shopping. I assumed it was a fallen branch in my peripheral, but I wasn't sure, so I parked a ways away and walked up to it; I'd fucking caused its eyes to burst out of its sockets. Because of my materialist/hedonistic impulses a precious life is lost. I feel wretched, like I don't deserve to live. That may seem over-dramatic but I'm normally self-serving person, and it's catching up to me.

522 KB,
So, I got a juvenile male betta fish a few weeks ago, and his behavior seems normal. He rarely hides, he swims around a lot, and when I'm in my room he's on the side of the tank I'm closest to looking at me. However, there is one strange thing. He seems to have stress stripes all the time, despite rarely acting stressed. He just acts like a happy fish. When he's asleep, he has his normal coloration. A few minutes after he wakes up though, he'll have those stripes. Why the heck does this happen? I would post a picture of him, but it makes him freak out....

2 MB,
Hi /an/.

I just rescued this bird from the park after my dog chased after it was attacked by a cat. It still seems lively enough (keeps trying to climb up and keeps exploring her cage), but she is wounded.

She keeps her right foot balled, is it broken?
How do I make sure she survives? I gave her some bird food my mom has, as she owns a lot of birds, but I'm not experienced in animal care outside of my dog.

She's wounded, but it doesn't seem like they're fresh wounds.

Magpie fledgling. If it's wounded, you'll want to take it to a shelter, they'll know what to do. I DON'T recommend trying to rehab a corvid at home without prior experience.

Right. Thought she was a young one, she flew very low before she got grabbed.

My mother gave her some of that egg power feed or whatever it's called in English.
She does has experience with birdcare, and I brought it to her (I've been living there for the past month as I just finished college and searching for a place of my own now). Shelter is three cities over and closed atm (it's 8PM here), so that's not an option until Monday.
