>spend 3-4 years trying to be a better artist
>still no where satisfied with my work
>hate showing it to anyone
>want to put a gun to my head right now
Normally i would of quit this, but theres something making to keep going. Like, this is really important to me, more important than being rich, getting married, having kids ect. . is this stupid, is there anyway i can rid of this feeling, otherwise i feel like im going to keep sinking into this hole of self depression.
Pic related is a drawing of mine.

You shouldn't be satisfied, and you shouldn't be showing this. It's not great, honest, but you already know that. Check out some anatomy textbooks from the library and keep on trucking. Visit /ic/ if you want, or /d/ if you're doing porn. Also seriously consider buying a drawing tablet to pursue your work more effectively.

i have a digital tablet and digital software, and honestly this is probably more serious than most things in my life. However, i could never get used to using digital tablet,s with lines and all.
But uh, what would you rate the image out of?

You know bro, my fetishes are very specific, but this isn't a good example of your work. It's very "sketchy" (obviously). Do you have anything more complete?

Also, get accustomed to digital work, please, for your own sake. It's very important, because it almost always will outclass line drawings like this. Also try and find a way to learn digital coloring if you don't already know how (not sure how you'd get educated in that kind of thing outside a classroom setting).

1. What about your fetishes?
2. Honestly i don't do "finished work" thats probably a bad thing, this is more than likely one of my more finished pieces.
>Also, get accustomed to digital work, please, for your own sake. It's very important, because it almost always will outclass line drawings like this.
Okay i will
But do you think i should go on? Sometimes i think it would be easier for me to drop this, but honestly i don't know what i do with my life.

I've been where you've been, so let me just say a few a things.

First off, the secret to getting better is just drawing everyday. If it sucks, look at it and find out why that is so you know where you need to improve.

Secondly. don't draw practice stuff with the intent of showing it off. You'll be more focused on getting compliments than you are improving.

The image on the left is one of the first things I made when I first got my tablet a year ago. The image on the right is something I made recently after studying how to improve myself.

Also make sure to keep your old work to see how you've been doing. Improvement happens slowly over time, and you won't really see how you've grown without looking back.

Have I made progress? Yes. Am I at a professional level? No. But that doesn't mean I should just drop everything and call it quits.

Just keep at it, and don't look for excuses to quit.

That's more an issue you need to answer for yourself. I mean, will you make money selling what you've posted? No. Absolutely not. With some hard work and studying over the next few years, going digital, then catering to some furries or whatever community you choose? I mean, maybe, but you have to consider those risks for yourself. Not everybody can be Dmitrys or InCase. Is it just a hobby for you? Then yeah, go crazy, nobody can stop you if you're having fun. Plus, it's important to have something that calms you and makes you feel like life is worth living.

However: You have to consider the opportunity cost of spending your time one this. When you spend time on this, you lose time to do other things, like develop a different hobby or get a girlfriend or develop other marketable skills that might make you feel just as good about yourself. Your ideal situation, assuming your drawing really came along nicely, would be what? Doing this professionally? If so, consider what I said before about studying and education so you can be competitive with your work and so you can be proud of a nice piece.

>all of this
Honestly I kind of want to hurt myself. I'm not feeling very good right now. I want to make nice things, great things I will be proud of. I guess I'm not quite sure where I want to go with art, all I know is my heart is stuck to it.

We all start as little shitters, myself included. I'm still a little shitter who can barely draw a stick figure, and you're still a litter shitter compared to many artists, but it takes practice and learning to get where they got.

I know your right, I just thought I was farther ahead than where I thought I was, and the realization is EXTREMELY bothering me right now. Once I get my prescription glasses soon, I will start doing drawing much more seriously. Say , what would you rate me as an artist? 1-10, 1 garbage 10 master 5 average.

I thought 4, so we're both not off.
O
I know this may sound dumb, but honestly I'm having a bit of a panic attack right now. Can you tell me everything will be fine, that I will become an amazing artist, and I will make great quality stuff? I know I'm the only person who can make that happen , I just want to hear someone say it, would make me feel so much better.

Let's put it in two sections: sellable/not sellable, skilled/unskilled

2 for sellable (It's not Deviant-art shit tier, but no one will buy something like this, uncolored line drawings just aren't what they're interested in)

3 for skilled - you know the basics of anatomy but not the finer points, and there are some flubs in the standing pose you posted, so I'd expect a "tension" pose is going to be even tougher to handle. Add onto that learning digital texture and coloring, and it's a start, but it's not the end. I know in just 6 months of working at it, you'll be far beyond where you're at now.

Go to >>/ic/ , they know far more about how to improve your work than /adv/ and they can really be a great resource and community when they're not being bantering assholes. You don't need us to tell you you're great, we're just some opinionated losers on the internet. You need to get drawing so that it becomes obvious you're destined for greatness.

I've been going to ic for The last 3 years . I just wanted to be comforted a bit. Just to.help me sleep is all.

>Art student here
Didn't read the thread, but what's your goal with this? Do you just want to casually draw/make some art on the side, or are you hoping to have an artistic career?
>>
>>16598802
For now, just know I am very passionate about art. I have a job that I can live off of for now, but I want art to the centerfold of my life. I want to be very good, professional level. I got what I need from this thread. A nice message is what I could use right now.
>>
>>16598817
Fair enough. Good luck man. Hope to see your work some day.

Thank you. I appreciate the pleasant message !
