What do I need to rent a car in the US besides a license? I'm

License and credit card. They don't like to take cash because with a card they can come after you if you damage the car or rack up additional charges.

They will be happy to sell you insurance by the day, at something like an extra $10 a day.

They will also raise the rental rate way above any advertised rate if you're under 25.
