I find that one of the best things to do when I'm feeling down is get on my bike and go for a ride, and monologue to myself. Helps me get all of my bad feelings out and straighten how I feel about things. Also if you live in the city, it's a good opportunity to see some things and people you normally wouldn't, and maybe even meet a new friend.
