don't listen to this normie, he was probably always disciplined

i went to the gym everyday for like a year and a half and got pretty swole, got injured and fast forward a year later i haven't come even close to the frequency or intensity of my old routines and i haven't become more disciplined in any other aspect of my life

i mean, i'm a failure to be sure, but dudebros tend to put the gym and weight lifting in general on a pedestal - it isn't some magic solution to all of your problems
>>
What do you mean by more disciplined? In what area/s?
>>
>>17342030
In general, I want to manage myself, resist temptations, face hardships, set routines and finish before every deadline.

Ah okay.

First and most importantly, create a schedule and maintain it. Some people make a daily routine that they follow from the moment they wake up. It may seem tedious at first, but start simple and maintain it. Plan out how your day is going to go and don't divert unless you must. Consistency is key here. This is a simple way that anyone can discipline themselves.

Next up add some challenges, for example, working out, dieting, or hobbies. If you choose to strengthen your body, create a specific time in your schedule that you can dedicate to this. Just like everything else, you need a routine to start off. Many people start off by stretching or running a few laps and then whatever comes next for them. You'll struggle at first if you've never created a workout routine, but you'll discover what best fits you. If you need help ask /fit/. You don't have to workout, but it helps discipline you dude.
Dieting is key to strengthening the mind and body. You don't have to limit yourself too much, but know what you're going to eat, and what it will do to your body. Try eating 3 meals a day with plenty of water in between them and one or two snacks a day. Avoid junk food and sugary drinks until the weekend. Make sure that you eat at least one hour before groceryshopping to avoid buying unecessary foods such as candy, chips, etc. You can buy these for the weekends, but only for then. Make your own food at home with healthy ingredients, or at least low amounts of sugar. If you are on the heavier side anon, you will see changes. Eat certain foods if you want to help with body building.
Hobbies. You're gonna need them, especially if you want to reduce anxiety, or try out no-fap. You don't need hobbies, but it helps. If you choose to have a hobby, make sure to have a place for it in your schedule. Just like working out, it doesn't have to be a daily thing, but be sure that you plan it.

Hobbies are as simple as reading a book, watching tv, or playing video games. You could go out, hang with some friends, etc. Just make sure it works out with your schedule and stick with it. Limit yourself as well. Don't binge watch, keep it to one or two episodes a night, or one or two hours of tv. Same goes with video games. If you want to push yourself in your hobby, try something like reading a book and push yourself to read a certain amount of pages. I recommend not staying up late during the weekdays unless absolutely necessary. Have a certain bedtime. Make sure your hobbies correlate with this. If you think or know that your hobby interferes with your schedule, put it down. Put down the book, unplug the tv, create a seperate account on your computer specificly for working.

Most importantly anon, make sure you have the motivation and will to do these things. Make yourself a promise if you have to feel committed. It will be difficult at first but push yourself anon. This pushing will result in you becoming disciplined. This may sound boring, but you'll find a way to spice it up and keep yourself on track. Try new things, set goals. Keep track of the progress in a journal and if you need, get a schedule notebook or app. All this relies on you anon, and no one else.

With time you'll see improvements. You'll see yourself get to work on things such as project at work, and you'll get done before the deadline. You can enrich yourself with literature and knowledge of many subjects through this. You'll become that person that everyone knows as reliable and trustworthy. You'll develop many ways anon and if you keep it up for even one year, you'll look back and be amazed. Just work for it anon, because no one else is going to do it for you.

Wow, first off thank you so much, this might seem creepy but I'm a forgetful fuck sometimes so I'm adding all of this to a notepad file so I can keep all of this in my head.
>First and most importantly, create a schedule and maintain it
I've been having a jacked up sleep schedule where I don't really know when I'm going to sleep or wake up so I'm thinking about just littering my laptop screen with physical sticky notes of shit to do every day and taking them off when I finish. Can't do things conventionally if I want results I think.

I have a few workouts in mind and I'll definitely add them to the soon-to-be annoying note garden, same with meals and everything else, I'm that bad lol.

Like I said I'm saving all of this because the entire post is a big help, thanks a lot anon. I hope to stick to this and be someone I'm proud of instead of what I am now.

Lose the ego and never be satisfied with yourself.

I strongly, strongly recommend you check out The Power of Habit.
It's not a self-help book. I mean it can be used for self-help, but it's primarily a book about how habits affect our daily lives and how using techniques to change them can make people and businesses more successful, and how bad habits can and have been the downfall of sports teams, businesses, and how bad habits cost the lives of dozens of people in the London underground.

It's not a bunch of mumbo jumbo, either, it's based on real medical studies and research that has confirmed several times over the things it talks about. I'm a skeptic, I looked it up, and it's actually all true. I strongly urge you to check it out.

I struggle with this myself. I just came out of the worst drug and porn binge I've had in years, and I'm struggling to reconcile my identity with what I've just done.

I realize now that this isn't solely a matter of addiction, it's rooted in the fact that when I come to crucial moments in my life, I always come to the conclusion that it's actually easier to descend into that filthy hole and hide from the world, blocking out everything from my mind.

Train yourself to be constantly pushing your tolerance and resistance to the next level. But keep in mind that you have to do it also with the small things in your daily life.

For example, try to stop eating before you feel really full. Never allow posts here to make you go TL;DR, force yourself through them. Watch movies and force yourself to not stop and check the internet or your cellphone once. Get a book and see how many pages you can read before your mind wanders or you feel like doing something else (If it's 5 pages, then take your break but do 6 pages next time. Then 7, then 8, etc)

And make sure you have to do the things you have to do before you get to do anything you like. If your room is a mess tell yourself to clean it every morning after you wake up. Have your own Patrick Bateman-y beauty routine and never skip it. Read a few pages of a book before bed, and get to bed every day at the same time.

You just need to become accostumed with the discomfort that comes with not doing what you want or doing something that you don't want.

>You just need to become accostumed with the discomfort that comes with not doing what you want or doing something that you don't want.
This, so much. And after a while, you will CRAVE this discomfort, because it gives you the satisfaction of knowing you've pushed yourself and have progressed as a human being.

Download the app Swipes and Beethoven.

Swipes allows you to make a list of things you want done. You can postpone them, but they will be there until you either cancel them or have done them. This way, you are constantly reminded to do these things. Besides you get to feel a sense of accomplishment when you've finished them.

Beethoven is about establishing healthy habits. You pick 7 habits you want to do each day and do them. It's great for long term disciplinary thins, such as getting up earlier, going to the gym, eating breakfast at 8 am or whatever you'd like. You can also see and choose healthy habits of successful people.

Both these apps are free and helps you with your life goals.

For discipline specifically I would try a Pomodoro method app like studyBreak. It cuts up your time, for instance you work for 45 minutes, get a 15 minute break. Do 3–5 sessions. Generally with discipline is that you give up when you face an obstacle, the Pomodoro method forces you to continue. But you could try on your own to say "Hey, let's just give it 10 more minutes. If I don't get it then, I'll take a fifteen minute break and get back with a fresh mindset." But with any Pomodoro method, it won't let you make those 15 minutes become something huge like 2 hours of videogames.

Oh and I haven't tried this, but some people have told me that keeping a diary is also good, because not only you're forcing yourself to write something, but you're also forcing yourself to put your thoughts in order and write down your daily achievements. And if you continue to be a slacker your lack of written achievements might give your perspective on how much of a slacker you are.
