people at work are inviting me to be their childs godparent, the thing is I don't really GAF about these people or anyone else, i'm trying my best to avoid social interactions with people at work but it cant be avoided and now they think one of their friends or something(not sure though but i get invited to alot)
how bad would it be to refuse being a godparent?

do these people have the same religious beliefs as you? even if you go to the same house of worship, you may believe differently from them. usually a godparent is supposed to help with a child's spiritual development, so I would think the parents would want someone whose beliefs match theirs.
are you uncomfortable around children? sometimes that can be a good excuse.

what/how is the best way to refuse them without sounding like an ass to everyone else.
Its purely ceremonial bruh just accept and move on. You'll have to go through a lot more social interaction if you refuse

Just make sure to emphasize how it's an honour to be asked, etc, etc, and apologize a few times while giving a solid reason like not being good with kids.
