I'm white and my wife is Chinese, and we have no kids yet. While not being mixed race myself, I feel the way >>17312095 does; mixed race people are the future.
I would argue that, with loving and nurturing parents at the ready, being a child that's different in such a superficial way is not really a bad thing. Kids that hit every generic trait in their social pool might be at less risk for bullying, but they're also at greater risk of becoming bullies or judgmental toward outward differences, or simply being ignorant of both the connection and the disconnect between appearance and identity.
I can concede that, living in a state that is more white than many, there's a pretty good chance my kids will experience some form of teasing, and that will be upsetting and challenging for them. But I'm okay with them experiencing that, because I believe that with proper parental support, such challenges ultimately can create greater, more compassionate people.
The time of year I was born meant I was always small for my grade in school, and I did get picked on and bullied at times. Without proper support at home, it's very possible I would have internalized that abuse, and become a bully later in life. But instead I became someone who hates seeing anyone bullied and almost pathologically strives to stick up for the little guy.
If you're a loving parent, OP, your kids will be able to take a little bullying. Be a good role model for them, and they will be fine, or better than fine.
