Are there any low-skill/minimum wage jobs that hire just about anyone and aren't manual labor? I can't do manual labor because I am a double amputee.

I apply to pretty much every minimum wage position I can find, but I never hear back from any of them. I have no experience, no work history, no references, no marketable skills, and no social skills.

But yeah, can anyone suggest anything? I can't work at McDicks, I can't move freight, I can't stock shelves. Seemingly all I can do is sit at a desk and do busy work like that, but none of those places will hire me.

Thanks

telemarketing is considered an easy in. the problem is that its hard to stay in. have you tried finding a job through a job placement organization or disability organization? they tend to know who hires amputees and can find you a stable gig

What are you missing?

Yeah I went to my state's disability program, the state program just put me in touch with another program in my local area and they don't actually help you find a job, they just teach you how to do interviews, write resumes, and give you transportation to interviews you might have.

So I just go on job boards, filter by minimum wage no experience and apply to everything. I have not heard back from one single place. Applied to about 200 places.

I am not even exaggerating.

Two legs.

I have full use of my upper body.

thats not that unusual especially with your condition, but they say for every 100 you submit you get one interview. considering i get 5 for every 30 someones gotta balance that out, yeah?

not sure what to tell you other then keep fluffing that resume and maybe get into amputee porn

Go for telemarketing or customer support. Telemarketing will hire pretty much anyone, but it might take some time before your sales skills develop. Customer support is more chill. Both will also improve your social skills considerably.

Don't you get mad bucks for missing two legs? Holy shit. So I guess all those people talking about NEETbux were just memeing...

Suddenlink will hire just about anyone to work their phones. You'll spend a lot of time telling people, "Have you tried unplugging it and plugging it back in?"

But on the plus side, you do move up if you stick it out.

Nothing from any government office or government affiliated like a college? These places often have quotas for hiring of minorities, women, or disabled. Depending on where you live, there's likely a goverernment program to subsidize an employer for part of the salary when they hire the disabled, better than being on disability or on welfare.

Since you didn't hear back from so many, apply again and remind them of your skills and of your disability, and remind them to consider their PR in hiring you, and of the programs availalble. An employer might well think again if you can pull your weight and the employer get a bunch of your salary back from the goverenment, or tax credits, or funding to renovate to accommodate you.

Turn your disability into something you can sell, Anon!

Also, say that you're gay, vegetarian, mixed race, and a Hindu. It couldn't hurt.

OP again.

Every application has a voluntary disability section, but they don't allow you to elaborate, just a yes or no "Are you disabled/a veteran?"

I have checked yes.

The thing that is getting me isn't my disability I would think... Its my lack of any experience, extracurriculars, etc. Most places nowadays, their HR departments run some software that just automatically weeds out applications that don't pass a threshold... Sends them straight to the trash before a human ever even sees them.

That's why I ask for places that hire pretty much anyone, because my disability aside, I just don't have the prerequisites for virtually any job.

Normally a person in my position would go work in a restaurant or join the army or some damn shit... But those aren't options for me.

Oh and I do have a college degree and had good grades, but it is a useless bachelor of the arts (I had plans to go to law school and work at my mom's law firm, but that fell through because I couldn't get into a top school or get financial aid since I had no faculty recommendations, extracurriculars, etc... Just good grades/test scores, which wasn't enough).

DON'T CHECK YOU ARE DISABLED UNLESS YOU ABSOLUTELY FEEL THE JOB REQUIRES AN ACCOMMODATION.

I'm paralyzed in my left arm, am technically disabled. I spent months applying just like you. After talking with a director of disability at my uni, jobs can ask voluntarily for that information. They cannot turn you down or reject you because of your disability. UPS couldn't fire you for being unable to run your delivery route, but could fire you for lack of performance.

If you can type, answer phones, talk and get around in a wheelchair, then you can do 90% of desk jobs. If you need something, they are supposed to accommodate it.

It sounds like you need to get some education/training and get a resume reviewed.

I can't get anymore education/training. I have no money.

I looked into going back to school for some kind of IT degree or something of that sort, but I can't get anymore more federal student loans. Plus I already owe like $25000 still from my bachelor's degree.

You have a degree? You have plenty of skills to market.

They don't know your story. Being disabled could be a slight vision problem or it could be mental retardation, they don't know. If the job calls for skills you think you can do, then go for it, overstate your enthusiasm for filing papers. You can't reach the top? No problem, someone can do that part, but you can do the rest.

I'm an engineer and unless I have to lift heavy stuff over my head or scale 30+ ft up in the air, I can do my job. My disability hasn't stopped me yet.
