A good friend of mine was talking about joining the army and getting into I believe psychological operations? I'm not against the idea, in fact I think it's great he's doing something he wants to do!
That being said, part of me still worries. Can someone who's been in the Army explain to me what it's like? What one has to go through? Things that might be useful to know?

That sounds fun. I don't think going to war and being a soldier is all that "cool" tho... you know, I don't want to get killed, nothing personal

Army sucks
Marines and Airforce
>>17305162
He's not really doing it because it's "cool". He has his own reasons for doing what he's doing.
>>17305175
Care to explain why?
>>17305142
It's mostly 1/2 sitting around waiting to do something, 1/8 doing cool things, 3/8 learning shit.
What the fuck does phychological operations mean??

Whatever you do do not join the Coast Guard or the National Guard you will literally be the front lines and body shield if war were to happen
>>17305214
If it's not cool why would someone want to do something?

I looked it up because I was curious as well, this is what I found: http://www.goarmy.com/careers-and-jobs/browse-career-and-job-categories/intelligence-and-combat-support/psychological-operations-specialist.html
He seems to be into the idea... I don't think it's what he thinks it is but it's still in that line of something he might want to do.

I don't think he has any interest in that anyways. If I ever wanted to be a part of the military though, I'll keep this in mind.

You know he doesn't have interest in that? can you read his mind?
maybe he wants to die for his country, have you ever thought about it? huh?

There's not a whole lot of cool guy things you can do without putting in the yrs of service. If he goes enlisted, this can be a painful process with low pay and mindless work. Officer route is best way to go. More pay, quicker action.
