Need legal advice here:
>be me
>have retarded failure friend
>he has a DUI, dropped out of college, no car, no place to stay
>pretty much let him live with me so he can get back into school, get him a job within walking distance
>he sets up the direct deposit for his job to hit my bank account, for whatever reason. I let him do it because he says I can keep the money, he's a server so it's $80-$100 a month
>ends up asking for the money, I give it back and say he needs to switch it over if he wants the money. This goes on for months
>at some point he gets a puppy, abuses it, neglects it, and basically forces me and our other roommate to take care of it
>I move out 2 months early because I cant stand living in literal filth
>2 of his paychecks have hit my account since then, he just called and asked for them (first time we've spoken in three weeks) and I basically say "okay. I understand the situation."
I plan to keep this considering he's stolen things like a sweater, weed, alcohol, etc. his dog has chewed up 2 pairs of shoes and shit all over my dog crate. Also because the initial agreement was that I'd keep the paychecks until he set up his own account. Is there anything he can do to get this money? Like would he have a case in small claims court
Thanks

What country are you in? In Canada, that whole set up is illegal as it is considered money laundering. If the shoes, sweater, etc. is less than $500 I'd just give him the money and drop contact with him.

>pretty much let him live with me so he can get back into school, get him a job within walking distance
Who the fuck would do that for somebody?
I know nobody would for me, and I'm not a shithead like your friend.

He pays rent. The plan was he was going to be a 5th roommate so we'd all pay cheaper rent.
And then one of my roommates was like "nah you can just have my lease."
Also,
Since I've moved out he's been telling our mutual friends and acquaintances that:
1) I trashed the apartment when I moved out
2) I physically abused his dog
And
3) I lied to his boyfriend (he's gay) to sabotage their relationship (when I simply showed his boyfriend an email that was evidence of him cheating)
Doesn't that count as slander
Bump. Help me guys

I mean it's his money.
And you're a literal idiot for allowing """"""""friends"""""""" like that to live with you.

Set the record straight with your mutual friends by telling them what you've told us here. He has his paychecks going through your account, you want to keep the cash because of damage to your property by him, and he is trying to extort it out of you. If your """"friend"""" is as much of a nothing failure as you claim, mutual friends will pick up he's lying and take your side. Just cut your losses, give him the money, get his paychecks delivered elsewhere by contacting the employer, and cut the cancer from your life. The sooner you take away his ability to drag you down the better.
