Like 99% of the time you will never be in any trouble. As long as the Car doesnt smell like weed at ALL, you should be okay. If for some random reason you got pulled over by a Cop, there would be no real reason for him to search you as long as it smells normal as fuck, and nobody in the car has a Warrant/Reason to be fucked with.
If you need to smoke, pull over somewhere safe and smoke away from the car. Bring a pullover hoodie to smoke in and absorb some smell, then take them off and stash them away.
Use eyedrops and gum. Dont be an idiot and have your car window opening smelling like a Glade Freshener factory.
Also, know your Tollbooths and shit.

I remember in High School my dad opened my backpack in frontnof me one day as I sweat bullets hoping he wouldnt open the pencil case, which had my weed stuff in it.

It varies by state. Where I live, anything under 100 grams is a fine. Check your local laws.

It depends where you live and the mood of the Cop, too.
I was driving around when I got randomly pulled over. He smelled it from my Glovebox (Less than half a gram since I had already been smoking some) and it cost me a $313 Ticket.
Another time I had 2 grams and a Pipenon me at around 10pm in the woods. He just throw my Pipe into the trees and stomped my weed into the ground and let me go.
