How do we deal with things such as aversions? Controlled exposure and tolerance building. Eventually, even the therapist will want you to face what's bothering you. Take it in steps...see the thing and try to accept it with practice, then limited approaches/attempts, then first actual try, to graduate towards reasonable comfortableness and familiarity. There's self-help books on overcoming phobias and other uncomfortable situations--this falls under cognitive behavioral therapy. I hope this is helpful! GL!
