Can I get in trouble for that? The guy looked to be at least 25, so I didn't think he'd be dating a fucking 16 year old of all ages.

If doing what you did with a 16 year old is illegal where you live, then sure, you can get in trouble for it. The legality or illegality of their relationship is a separate issue and your liability is completely independent of it.
