What are some worthwhile hobbies, something other than videogames?

>be 24
>only interest ever has been videogames
>starting to grow increasingly sick of it, want to do something else with my life
>can't feel any interest towards anything else i look at, other than porn, but what the hell
>>
Try branching out, get into programming and start making games of your own.
Or, try getting into board games and enjoy some face-to-face contact.
Or do something totally different. Do you like food? Take of cooking. Are you sedentary? Take up exercising. Try a bunch of different stuff and find out what makes you want to keep doing it.
>>

>get into programming
I tried, it's too much numbers and text for me. I probably have ADD or something but I never did well in school because of disinterest, slow reading and bad memory.

I tried and humiliated myself in a chess club once, so I'm probably not gonna try something like it again.

Cooking isn't a hobby, it's a necessity.
Exercising is something I'm getting a lot more into, but it isn't a hobby, it's something I want to do to stop being a useless piece of shit all day + maybe look attractive in a year from now.

I should probably mention that I'm a depressed, unmotivated and socially awkward dumbass as well. I also recently completely destroyed any chance to get along with the ex whom I still thought I loved, so after having been in break up itch for a year and almost being over it, I'm now back in feeling like the most useless and unlikable person ever.

No need, you're conveying that quite well already.

Look, I'm not going to list a hundred different hobbies for you just so you can go "No... no.. no," to each one. My main advice is: try a whole bunch of different things. Find out what your friends are into and ask if you can join them. Eventually you will probably find something that interests you.

And go into it with an open mind; if you go in thinking that you aren't going to enjoy it (which seems to be your default mode), then, surprise surprise, you aren't. I know this is easier said than done, but it's so important. And you may surprise yourself.

Go to the library and check out three books on three different subjects. Keep at it until something clicks.

But it sounds like the real problem is depression, and after this much time suffering I think it's time to see a doctor. There are medications that can help, there are therapies that can help.
>>

>friends

>which seems to be your default mode
Yeah, I've always been extremely pessimistic. And my pessimism has almost always paid off, because things are generally as bad as I expect them to be or worse, somehow. I dunno.
Thanks for the suggestions though.

Well, there's a few things I've had in mind, if I could just get my lazy ass off this site and stuff, sometime.
I wanna start biking, sitting around by myself out in the nature, maybe even learn to meditate while listening to chill music or such.
The problem is motivating myself to get outside at all, and I don't own a bike, and I'm anxious as hell to buy one because it'll just get stolen anyway.

>>17271824
I was kicked out of my tiny shitty town's only library for having brought my water bottle with me inside. Some hag literally yelled at me and shoved me aorund. I'm not going in there again.

>it's time to see a doctor
I see a psychologist and I'm on some "citalopram sandoz" crap, but it doesn't help.
>>
>>17271767

sounds to me like you are only looking at consumer hobbies. try being a creator.

like video games? make a simple video game. expand from there.

comics? draw one. books? write one. movies? make one. etc.
>>
>>17271838
>try being a creator
I have tried. I'm not good enough.
When I was much younger I had a huge interest in drawing, but I never really got anywhere with it and then I just stopped. These days it's only a bleak and sad dream to think that I could have the ability to draw something nice.
>just draw and draw and draw until it sticks
I don't have the motivation to even look for a pen or paper.

In recent years, I've made a bunch of youtube videos, often with small editings through Sony Vegas; nothing too much, I don't like oversaturation and shit, just small stuff like learning to clip things together neatly and such. Since none of them - not even a single one - have gotten more than a few thousand views though, it feels so incredibly unrewarding. I've told myself that I only made them for my own entertainment, but they're still.... they ARE nothing.

I can't write a lot, normally. Only when I sperg like in these kind of threads where I'm ranting like hell.
>>
>>17271850

>im not good enough

you dont have to be. we arent telling you to get a career we are telling you to get a hobby. i make shitty movies, but its fun and i get to tell my stories and as least six people care so im fine with it.

the problem is you are deciding that you need to be instantly great and successful, or you wont even bother. thats the kind of entitled asshole you are demanding we save you from your own boredom.

when i first started id get only 300 views per episode. six years later i got over 100 thousand views per episode. it takes time to actually get good and to even build up an audience.
>>
>>17271865
The problem is that there's no point in getting out of hiding until you actually have something worth showing.
Good on you for finding success in your patience though.
>>
>>17271867

what? no one says you have to show anything. do it for yourself. if you arent doing it for yourself, then dont fucking do it. but stop acting like its our job to build up a life for you just cuz you've decided to have too high standards to do anything.

that being said, you are also wrong. great artists dont hide in their room til they have an imaginary berak through. they get out there. no matter what medium it is you go to classes, you go to shows, you share, you do waht you fucking can cuz the more people react to your work the more you begin to understand what is actually wrong.

everyone starts shitty but with some aspect of the work that is enjoyable. you tuve is the PERFECT example of that.
>>
>>17271867
...is that what you think artists do? That has not been the philosophy of anyone who has ever made anything worthwhile. No one hones their art in secret without showing it to anyone. In order for your art to develop, you must show it widely and get criticism.
Here, watch this. The dude is talking specifically about developing video games, but it applies to any kind of creative process at all.

>too high standards
I'd say I have insanely low standards actually. I expect the least of everyone and everything, and I'm still disappointed.
>>
>>17271884

>i have insanely low standards
>i just refuse to take part in any hobby unless im automatically going to be good at it and receive extreme recognition
>thousands of views just isnt enough to justify doing something i supposedly like just for fun.

sorry man you are just too retarded and too entitled.

Good luck finding something oyu enjoy.
>>
Git gud at locksmithing, faggot

A set of tools is pretty cheap and it's a fun skill to develop
>>
>>17271882
I don't need to get critiqued from deviantartists to know what I do wrong. I've read books and stared at art endlessly, which is exactly how I know that all things I draw are completely wrong.

>>17271891
>thousands
When absolute garbage like PewDiePie's content gets literal millions of views, a couple of thousand really is just depressingly low. But youtube is a place where less than a percentage of content is actually decent, so.
>entitled
One of us doesn't know how to use the word properly. That could be me though.

Why, to become a burglar?

Ok you're trolling. You started out plausible, but you're now clearly just trying to waste our time.
Bye.
>>

Right, whatever.
>>
>>17271903
>Why, to become a burglar?

No, to engage in a productive hobby that goes back thousands of years.
>>
>>17271927
Seems more like a tricky job I wouldn't have the patience for than a hobby. Thanks for the suggestion though.
>>
>>17271903

>that could be me though

yes. entitled means:
believing oneself to be inherently deserving of privileges or special treatment.

as if you believe you deserve special treatment and not having to actually work your way up and build an audience and discover yourself, but shoudl be given a hobby where you are immediately at the top of your field.

its fucking people awtching youtube, if views matter, you should just give up on life dude. you are the whiniest fucking person trying to just have fun.

good luck with your video games and porn.
>>
>>17271937
You're putting words in my mouth again. In no post did I hint on even having the idea of being immediately at the top of anything. It's the complete opposite, I would be coming in as the worst of the bunch, embarrass myself so hard that I'd make everyone around me contemplate humanity, and then I'd be gone.

You're awfully rude for seemingly no reason. Thanks for the luck though.
>>
>What are some worthwhile hobbies, something other than videogames?
Try doing random odd jobs on Craigslist and make friends.
>>
>>17271945

>im not insisting i need to be the best
>im just saying i wont do it cuz id be bad at it
>almost as if id only do it if i was immediately good

see how retarded your logic is?
>>
>>17271937
>>17271945
Also I'm not sure what you consider to be a hobby, but the word to me implies having ANYTHING to do. Around other people or not and whether it requires effort to become something in it or not doesn't matter, and I don't think I said so before either.

>>17271946
There's no Craigslist where I live.
>>
>>17271952

and yet you dismiss them because it requires effort and learning and growing. you can make a comic and never share it. make a video and never share it. maek a video game and never share it. make a chair and never share it. make a radio play and never share it.

but you've decided that you arent immediately good enough to do any of those, so were done giving suggestions.

i suggest creating cuz ur clearly a burnt out consumer livign for porn and video games. but actually making something is too complex for you because you arent perfect and are better than pewdiepie so goodluck
>>
>>17271962
>so were
But others have come up with ideas, while all you've done is harass me over some poor choice of words or whatever I did to upset you.
>>
>>17271970

and others have given up and called you a baiter even.

either way, go ahead take thsoe other suggestions, ill stop posting. good luck
>>
>>17271975
Some nobody called me a troll for speaking my mind. I don't think I'm obliged to care about that.

You sure like giving out luck though. Thanks again.
>>
>>17271933
What the fuck do you think a hobby is you gigantic faggot
>>
anime and manga are very sugoi desu
>>
>>17271792

>humiliated myself in a chess club once

How could you humiliate yourself at a chess club? Is that even possible?

Like the others have said you dont have to be good at a hobby as long as you get a kick out of it happy days.
