So I got rejected by this university in a bachelor course for graphic design and they just got back to me saying I can email them a letter of appeal. The thing is I don't think I have anything to appeal for. Could I just ask them why they rejected me and form an appeal from there like "I'll improve on this and that if you are willing to accept me"

A letter of appeal is supposed to add new information, so based on what you want to do, a letter of appeal would be inappropriate.

If you took classes or participated in an ec, but didn't tell them or improved your G.P.A, then a letter would be a wise choice of action.

Ah fuck. they are still waiting for my response? SHould I just ask them why I got rejecteD?

They probably will not tell you, but I guess you could issue a FERPA request form, but unless you are a student at the college, they will probably deny it. (if they still have the documents)

An appeal would be for things like "this is why my application wasn't accepted," not "I can get better." They want you to be at a certain standard BEFORE you're in the program, not once you're in the program.

no you idiot the letter of appeal is you appealing to them, to let you in for real. Expand on your application and put in relevant new info.

>"I'll improve on this and that if you are willing to accept me"

90% of people who write this don't actually intend on doing it and admissions officers know this. They're just words. you have to show that you have motivation and drive and have already done things to improve, on your own.

"Thank you for your consideration. I'm writing to appeal the decision made and implore you to consider offering me a place on this course.

Since my application, X months ago, I have done XYZ to improve my graphic design skills, and my grades have improved X much. I'm currently ABCing to practice graphic design. I'm passionate about this subject and I believe that this course would give me the training and skills needed to make something of that passion.

Kind regards,

>If you haven't actually been trying to improve yourself, or haven't changed in any noticeable way from when they rejected you, then you're basically fucked

It's only been a week since they rejected me though

So I guess I should just reapply next year after I get better?

If you have no grounds for appeal, then you don't have a reason to appeal. If you think they've been unfair in the process at some point or you don't think you represented yourself fairly in the application, those are grounds for appeal. "I'll get better, I promise!" is not.

Yes.

What country OP?

Did you post this a week ago or so? I remember a post like this. The appeal is going to do absolutely nothing. You can ask why they rejected you, but it's probably going to be a polite 'you weren't good enough'.

yeah, it's me haha
they finally responded like a day ago but I guess that changes nothing
