I find intelligence very attractive. It makes conversations interesting. Teasing each other is the sexiest thing for me. Smart people, in my experience, have a better sense of humour, a wider knowledge about stuff, and they're more open minded. I am also very fascinated by people who do well in their job and are very dedicated and passionate about it.
I want other things too - I want someone I find physically attractive, someone I share ideals with, someone with a nice personality.

It's a meme in the same sense that woman wanting nice guys is a meme. When they say this, what they mean is that they want a guy who's conventionally attractive AND nice, or conventionally attractive AND intelligent. I think intelligence in this sense means well articulated, witty, clever, and demonstrably able to think on one's feet.
Women like it when a guy they are dating seems reasonably smart, sure. But there's lots of things that go into attraction. People will say they want one thing, but they really want a package of things. Not a perfect package, but a combination of things they can adore. i.e. intelligent, fit, and good looking. Or hard working, fit, and caring.
