90% of the people on 4chan are teenage dweebs who have been bullied in real life all their lives. Their only recourse is bullying others from the safety of anonymity. Unfortunately, they're not very imaginative or original in their bullying, so they rely on a small handful of all-purpose insults. Let's just hope that calling some stranger a fag online gives them some small pleasure. They have so very little else to their lives.

Faggot basically means person on 4chan. And that's in addition to the site being full of literal faggots.
Faggot is a one-size-fits-all insult, deriving from a derogative term for serfs and peasants that collected faggots of sticks (see >>17254222 ). Although it is currently used in particular reference to homosexuals, its application is broad.
On 4chan, posters are (in theory) only of any value when they post good content. Therefore, the assumption is that everyone is a faggot until they prove otherwise, to the extent that it is the commonplace reference for posters, even for identifying oneself e.g. posters from Britain can refer to themselves as 'Britfags'.
