Got a summer job but I have a one week vacation planned about a month after I start working. Should I tell my boss right away or wait until I get settled in a bit?

Immediately. Ideally before you even start.
You should have told them this in the interview. Don't be surprised if they ditch you, btw

I always do this when I start a new job, even if it's a lie. When I'm offered a position and they really want me I say something along the lines of "I wasn't expecting to start working this early I have a trip planned" and get some nice, early paid vacation.
But yeah OP, tell them before you start working.

Depends on the job, but they'll probably fire you either way. Summer is in full gear. Disappearing for a week to miss training or part of the busy season is grounds for dismissal.
it's standard & polite behavior to give an employer 2 weeks notice when you quit, which is what you're doing.
