I'm currently using VLC media player but want to switch to a different player because of all the problems with VLC, which should I choose?

What's wrong with VLC? Just downgrade to an earlier version if you're having problems with newer ones.

I don't want it to just work I want it to work well, it's laggy and the grey screens annoy me. I just want recommendations for better players because almost every second (except when it's still) is choppy, I have tried previous players and am done with VLC.

It amazes me how well shilled was VLC.

I've never had problems with VLC. Maybe the problem is somewhere else? Try another player to make sure.
