It's really, really difficult to get inside the mind of a low self-esteem socially awkward kissless virgin beta who's been poisoning himself with 4chan since early high school unless you've been there. That definitely would have helped but honestly with the mindset I was in back then I can't even say I wouldn't have thought she was up to something because the experience of positive physical female attention would be so new and strange.
