Could this be a fracture?
How bad would it be to let it go untreated?
What is the treatment going to be like for a minor fracture?

I somehow did this to myself in an inflatable bounce house today. I think I came down really hard on the ball of my foot and twisted my toes back. It hurt, but it wasn't severe. Still felt sore some hours later, but not as bad.

Just now I took off my socks and had a look at it (some 8-9 hours since the event), and it's pretty red/purple right where the joint is. It's very slightly painful when I walk (right at the point in my stride where I "toe off"), and I really feel it if I flex my toes.

I'm tentatively planning on seeing my family physician tomorrow. Just wanted some context on this. I'm not super concerned, but I don't want some obnoxious little foot pain or joint problem years down the road because I didn't take it seriously.

Looks like a bruise

You definitely need amputation surgery. Peter Jackson called and asked if anyone knew where Gollum's foot went. They need it back for another shoot.

I don't know. but if you keep clipping your nails like that, you'll need your ingrown toenails removed in 10 years.

Nice try, Gollum. You're not getting it back.

The only thing is that the impact was on the bottom of my foot. I don't know how that could create a bruise on the top.

Anyone have firsthand experience with these?

I think you dislocated it. Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation (RICE) for a few days and see how it's fairing.

I like the sound of that. Any tips on compression? Do I just wrap it up tight with a bandage?
