i joined some porn sites back in 2014 and cancelled them after about two months. no big deal, right? well i checked one of my old email addresses a few weeks ago and found some weird email from january of this year. its in german so i had to translate it, and apparently it's a collection agency demanding over $200, their client is the financial vendor for the porn sites i joined. i emailed the company and asked why i was put in collections, and they said they had chargebacks in november of 2014 and they want their money. the email in january was the first i've heard of this, more than a year after it happened. so i checked my credit card statements and it looks like they charged me for another month after i had cancelled, and i disputed the charge on my credit card, although i honestly have no recollection of that.
so my question is this: can they do anything to me if i don't pay? cause i have no intention of paying them anything. the chargebacks happened over a year ago and the companies involved (both the vendor and the collection agency) are both based in europe. the collection agency claims they can take me to court, and the vendor says if i don't pay them it will affect my credit score. they know my name but i don't think they have my home address or anything else. should i just delete the emails and ignore them from now on?
