How do I become mentally stronger or tougher, /adv/?
I suffer from clinical depression if it matters, but I'm sick of minor things like fights with friends or stressful situations bring me down, sometimes to the point of sleep deprivation. I desperately need to get mentally tougher. What do?

I think it's a habit to develop, basically by entertaining tougher thoughts every fucking day and realizing when you're bringing yourself down in your head, saying SHUT THE FUCK UP to this inner critique and build brick by brick a fucking castle of manlyhood

If you can afford it, but advice is seek out a therapist. Alternatively, there're free apps out there that allow users to anonymously vent with rating systems built in to try and maintain service quality. 4chan's hit or miss for that kinda thing...

Learn to laugh. Laugh even when it's inappropriate. Have some humility, and acknowledge the situation that we're all in.

In the scale of the entire world where people literally watch their bodies rot as they die never knowing happiness, and being condemned merely due to where they were born, know that the petty squabbles of those in the first world countries are ultimately hilarious in comparison.

Honestly, the things people stress themselves out over. People literally sacrifice their livelihood and health worrying about things that do not matter.

I say laugh. Even if it doesn't make sense to the people around you, even if they don't get it, just laugh.

Think about everything you worry about to it's core. What are you ultimately afraid of losing, and should you honestly be afraid of losing it? Redefine thought, redefine purpose. Your life is about YOU, and the experiences you make for yourself man.

I say this because ultimately, fact cannot be changed. Perspective can be.

If somebody steals from you, you've been stolen from. You've lost that item, and it is no longer an asset.

Most people would end their train of thought there, and stew in their loss.

The fact that you've been stolen from cannot be changed, and it will effect you regardless of your belief. An alteration in perspective can provide insight, humor, and an appreciation for what you do have.

This is a short example, but I hope it gets the concept across.
