What job can I immediately get with a Political Science Degree?

Any sort of entry level office job.
The degree you got heavily relies on networking and internships. If you did not do either of those things, you can't just waltz into a job in government. You need to get an internship working with local or state government.

Don't get a criminology major, law schools look down on it, and most jobs that can be gotten with criminology can be gotten with other more desirable majors.

not op. how come law schools look down on it? obviously you couldent become a lawyer from studying criminology alone. Though, criminology studies theories, and topics that most, if not all, other studies ignore or dont thoroughly study. doesent the major depend on the area of work? if one wants to work with careers that directly relates to criminal activity (detective, prisoner officer etc) there isnt really a better study than criminology.

If you think any degree will net you an automatic job, I've got some bad news for you, sunshine. No degree gets you a job.
You know what gets you a job? Networking.
1. Pick 5 companies that you want to work for in your area.
2. Identify a hiring manager for each of those companies.
3. Set an appointment to meet each 30 minutes before their shift.
4. Buy them coffee. Starbucks won't kill you.
5. Be 5 minutes early. Exactly. Not 6, not 4. 5 minutes early.
6. Ask each what skills you need to land a job at their company.
7. End your appointment exactly 30 minutes. Don't bogart their time.
8. Leave each a business card. You can get them at VistaPrint for $10 for 100.
Your card should have your name, LinkedIn, and 2 or 3 bullet points. Relevant classwork, internships, etc. Your title should be "Open to new opportunities".
Once a month, monitor those 5 companies' position open section.
Twice a year, send those 5 hiring managers a thank you note or Christmas card, thanking them for their guidance.
Is this a lot of work? Yes. It's a fuckton of work just finding a hiring manager. But it has a shitload better chance than just applying online with a degree.
