If I psyche myself up, I can usually assert myself fine, but if I don't think about it then I start to act beta. The effect is that as people get to know me more they start to walk all over me. How can I stop being such a little pussy bitch around other guys and be alpha all the time?
You hesitate to compete with other males. You probably have low self esteem and don't bother trying because you assume in comparison to these other guys you don't have a chance.
I think you need to take up a competitive sport, practice until you are competent, and then regularly play it with other men.

Is that what you really want? Yeah you might feel bad ass for awhile, maybe you'll even fake it til you make it.
Workout, practice a skill, compete with your friends in something. Real bad asses worry more about pushing themselves then other people.
