Humans are naturally social beings. That's why the majority of us tend to form or be apart of societies. If you don't feel that you need friends, then more power to you if it makes you happy. But generally speaking, humans have a natural desire to be connected with other like minded humans. Example, you coming to anonymous people on the Internet for an answer to a question. It's simply natural to seek some sort of companionship with other people.
