How do I stop overthinking? I'm thinking so much about so many different things that there are nights when I can't even close my eyes and end up exhausted at the end of the following day. I just want to start caring less, but I don't know how.

I have used weed also, it mellows me out. Alcohol too, i used to drink watching tv, then i would sleep. If i did not drink i would not sleep, and overthink. Drugs are a good 'short term' solution.
Need a 'long term' idea. Try doing different things in life, new hobbies, different friends, have you thought about talking with family or friends about this? I know a lot easier said than done.

there is one silly way to kinda stop this
your brain starts making some loops, making films, you find yourself arguing with your friends, with your parents, or whoever...
just try stopping it for a second and repeat 3 times this sentence in your head:
I RENOUNCE THIS or I GIVE UP ON THIS
you can even say it out loud
it sounds retarded but at the short period of time you stop your brain making these loops by making some other small loops. it can help just a bit.
