Hey /adv/isors.
How do I make great coffee?
People tell me it's just about the brand you buy, and that everything else is pretty much the same.
>>
nobody who has ever had OK coffee would say that, let alone anyone who has had great coffee.

Get the mug.
Fill until you can no longer see the base of the mug.
I find that about 3 teaspoons (full ones) work the best.
Add the water, mix it with a spoon soon after, then take extra requests from others i.e milk, sugar etc.

put milk in bottom of cup first add coffee. 1 heaped teaspoons max powder so that when hot water hits the bottom it doesnt burn the coffee as most baristas do...

I usually go with a pour over method. I buy beans, grind a bit and don't use the same grinds for more than 48 hours, and have an electric boiler that dispenses hot water on demand. It makes coffee that's quite good and doesn't require a lot of time or investment in equipment.

This anon is correct. Melitta/cone brewing gives you the best flavor imo. I usually use a more mild roast, and then I splash a little vanilla extract on top of the grounds before I start pouring water through

try a french press
i got on that tip a few months ago and i will never go back

This guy. French press is the way to go. Then just find some coffee you like. I've been trying all the Gevalia flavors. Right now I'm on the french roast. It's a dark roast. Most Starbucks coffees suck. Cafe Du Monde Coffee with Chickory is alright and it's real cheap if you get it in Chinatown. Otherwise it's like twice as much at HEB. For that price you're better off getting something else.
