I think my mom had a stroke but she doesn't want to go to the ER.
I think she may have vascular dementia but that's just my diagnosis.

ask her to smile, if one side is drooping she may be having a stroke
have her grab your hands and squeeze tightly, if one side is significantly stronger than the other she may be having a stroke
even if these things aren't happening call for an ambulance anyway since she's not acting normally, for a stroke if you get treatment within 1 hour you can usually recover, if you don't you end up in a wheelchair or bedbound unable to use the left half of your body, or you end up dead.
