Trench warfare, if I recall correctly. The other technologies were all quite new -perhaps literally DURING the Civil War- but trench warfare didn't get big until World War I.

Machine Guns were new, but trench warfare was common especially in the earthworks around Petersburg and Vicksburg, so its a trick question? Maybe landmines then (yay for my history degree, I guess?)
>>
>>16950360
That being said, this wasn't WWI trench warfare
>>
>>16950292
Maybe landmines but the ACW is full of shit that all those could very well be right. I bet thats right in your textbook though, fuck

Landmines DEFINATELY saw use during the Civil War, mostly by the Confederates. Hell, the first modern fused mines were fielded during Yorktown, I believe.
>>
Upon further reflection, the right answer is probably Machine Gun. Gatling guns saw use during the civil war, but they're not strictly machine guns because they have to be cranked.
>>

all of those were lol

that would be my guess too. Theres a reason gatlin guns and machine guns have diff names.

All these people are dumb. It was the ironclad.

It's machine guns. Those are literally the trademark of WWI. Earliest use might be arguable in the Balkans
