I’ve been dating my bf (21) for 2 years now and I think he’s going to propose soon. We often have talks about the future: house, jobs, kids etc but recently when we talk about that he has been vague and secretive about timelines. I don’t know if I’m reading the situation wrong so I don’t want to say anything (I would also like it to eventually be a surprise). The problem is that I don’t think we are ready. I don’t want to have to say “not yet” if he does propose though and also potentially humiliate him in front of any family or friends he mentions it to. What do

Casually work into an unrelated conversation that you would rather get married later for whatever your reasons are. Make sure he knows you mean it, but also say is casually enough that he doesn't worry.
just say yes, and be engaged until whenever you're ready to be married.

This OP. If you can imagine a future with somebody, you say yes. That doesn't mean you have to get married anytime soon. You can just be engage and enjoy calling him your "fiance".
