I would like /adv/ on how to buy good candles without spending Yankee candle prices.

Tired of this unscented core shit.

Higher quality candles are going to cost more, but you might have some success looking online. What kind of candles are you looking for, and where have you looked so far?

Make your own. If you buy wax and oils in bulk it's substantially cheaper per unit.

Wax warmers work very well imo. Plus you can buy a bunch of different scents it's nice

I haven't looked online. I tend to buy stuff like this in store so I can smell it first (and check the base to see if it is white). I read that soy and beeswax candles are more natural and have some benefits but probably come at a premium.

You heard about all those monks that got lung cancer?

sounds like it might work but depends on the saving

sounds like a gimmick

>implying that all of the plasticizers, color dyes, fragrance chemicals and phthalates being burned in your average candle aren't also carcinogenic

As far as wax warmers, I would recommend skipping those. They're not a gimmick, they actually work and they smell nice, but they smell TOO nice, in my opinion... my friend's wife uses them, and whenever I leave his house that smell sticks to my glasses and jacket for fucking weeks, it's gross.

If you're looking for a quick solution to a stank room/house, essential oils are where it's at. Rub a little bit of that shit on something and the whole place smells fine.

Well then you're probably going to end up paying more for shopping at a brick and mortar store.

I didn't ask for general shopping advice I asked for advice on how to discern a good candle from a bad candle. And if your answer is "you get what you pay for" then that's not always true in my experience.
