I had a pilonidal cyst cut and drained the other day. I have to renew the gauze in it everyday until it's healed.
It's EXTREMELY painful.
For me, the most painful part is putting new gauze in, rather than taking old gauze out.
Please, what is the most pain-free way to do this?

I don't have personal experience with cysts but my suggestion for getting gauze in a small space is to fold or twist it up tight, insert it while holding the incision open as wide as possible without hurting it, and then allowing it to unfurl itself while inside.
Do you think that's possible and/or would work?

I had one of these removed last year, and my dad had one removed a few years back. His was like yours; left open to weep with gauze packed in there. Mine was small enough that they closed the wound once they removed it.
Honestly dude? It's painful as fuck but just bite down on a chunk of wood and deal with it. That's all you can really do.
Duh, call the doctor who removed the cyst and get an rx for Percocet or OxyContin

It was pretty painful.
Just take 800 mg of ibuprofen every 12 hours.
It starts to stop hurting after about 3 days.
Just chill out and find a comfortable spot to watch netflix.
