Thinking of sending something to a friend going through a bad time. Should I send him snacks, or protein powder, or something else?

>protein powder
Are you autistic? I do not mean this in a mean way.

No, it just occurred to me he might want that better. He's broke college student, and he's been trying to get /fit/ again, so I thought it might be a better gift than snacks
plus that shit is expensive

Well, that makes it a little better of a gift, but I don't think that's the kind of gift you should go with. Fitness supplies are a "happy birthday" or "hey man I saw this on sale and thought you'd want it" gift. If you want to cheer someone up, you should almost always go with something frivolous and enjoyable.
Snacks, especially if home-made baked goods or something.
ice cream, or apple pie

Right, that makes sense. I might just go with a snack care package off of Amazon

I'd go with protein powder then if he is planning on getting fit. That shit is pretty expensive and it would be awesome to get it as a gift

he's more like half-way there, which is making me reconsider getting him snacks, but maybe i should go for the protein powder

interesting idea, I might try this, but I'm a shit cook
