Started working in a local Emergency Department, and I just completed a few of my orientation shifts. Here is where my concern is. The job I do consists of two duties, desk (secretary work) and patient care. This requires 3/12 hour orientation shifts per duty. I've done the patient care orientation, but not the secretary orientation. They scheduled me for a regular shift that includes both duties, but I have yet to do the secretary training. The shift is tomorrow, and it has me on edge. The person who did my patient orientation said I will do fine, but it has me really concerned. The volatility of certain personalities in the work environment, and my lack of training for that facet of the job is going to make people think I am inept. What do?
