I applied for a language trip to Spain that is organised by my uni. Is it a good idea to say that the reason why I chose to learn Spanish is because I have a Spanish friend during the interview? Tbh I only picked Spanish as it is a lingua franca, I like how "romantic" it sounds, and I have a friend who can teach me Spanish. I don't even know how to answer the question why I thin Spain (and other Hispanic countries) are culturally or historically interesting because I don't, but surely I can't say that in an interview
