Is there a good way to find people you lost contact with on the Internet? All I can think of is Facebook and LinkedIn. I know the persons name and that they used to live in Canada but we fell out of touch about 9 years ago and I'd like to see if I can hit them up again, so far with no luck.

Assuming they have the same name, Google the name. You'll find sites like 123people and whitepages that list all phonebook and electoral roll entries. They give you basic info free and charge for the rest, but you'll probably be able to deduce if you've got the right person from the data provided.

A woman who's married and changed her name is harder. Google her maiden name - you might find something like FriendsUnited or a uni alumni magazine online that will have her old and new names.
