Does anyone have experience with Couch Surfing? What about Couchsurfing in your own city/state, to meet new people? Is this allowed? I'm just looking for new ways to meet people around me. I understand this is usually for travelers... but I am attempting to think outside of the box.

Any advice is appreciated.

There is usually a CouchSurfing group in most major towns and cities that meet up once every week/fortnight/month, etc.

This sort of meetup is easy to go to, as not everyone attends every time, and travellers come and go, so there's always a different crowd. It is a good way to get to know local people that are friendly.
