depends on the definition of need but i once woke up in intense stomach pain. turned out my appendix was bursting. i could not drive myself to the hospital. called a friend at 5am, took me to the emergency room.

Say if there's a disaster where you live and you're put out of your home, like in the case of a bad flood or something. If you don't know your neighbors that well and don't have a plan already set with them in case of an emergency like that, it would help to have friends or people you know well whom you could stay with.
