Ok, a little background story. I work in a university, I get contracts which usually last between 5 and 12 months. In the past 6 years I worked in over 10 positions but doing roughly the same sort of admin work.

I'm in my current position since June and will be here at least 1 more month but likely will get extended by a little bit into summer. My job is very easy to do. I enjoy it, I wish it paid a little more but I can't complain all that much, pretty much get exactly average national wage.

Anyways, in the last month or so I started waking up in the middle of the night, multiple times even. If feels as if I'm afraid I'll oversleep. It only happens on weekdays, even if I have to get up early on weekends I sleep completely fine. I have a feeling this is some sort of underlying stress that I can't figure out how to get rid of.

Why did I write about my background? Because the same thing happened in my prior positions, not initially after starting but after some time. My job isn't very stressful, I think I'm doing well in my job, I'm not worried about my contract ending because I usually take some time off between contracts to travel or if I want to just go back to work after a week or two break. I sleep the same amount of time every day, 7 hours, when I go to bed early I also wake up early and can't fall back asleep so I just don't bother changing my sleeping pattern.

Not sure what I should do, I feel like my sleep is slightly affecting my life as I don't feel as rested as I should. It's also making me nervous about jebus knows what. Any suggestions?

i feel ya. i spent a year in a daze cuz i woke up many times in the middle of the night. sleeping entirely through the night is a life chaning experience. its like having a fully charged phone for a day versus waking up with a 40% power phone. sure it will last, but you cant do everything you wanted with it, and it acts weird.

as fow how to fix this, even low stress can cause it. i learned that if i lay out my outfit for the next day on my desk, have my lunch packed / breakfast planned (like if its just cereal leave a bowl out with the cereal on the table and just go for the milk later, or just have the fruit laid out on the table, etc) i do better.

basically all i do is wake up, put on my clothes, pick up my bag, brush hair and teeth and im out the door. nothing to worry about.

for bonus points, right before bed i sit down and i write a list of everything to do tomorrow. not just work, but home and errand stuff. it stops me from tossing and turning thinking about what needs to be done. writing it down literally gets it out of your brain and ont o paper.
