Is it ethical for an recently turned 21 year old to date an almost 18 year old?
>>
Yes.

I'm dating a 19 year old and I'm 26.

Yes it's fine. Go for it bro.

The golden rule is "half your age + 7", so I would say yes.

k cool. My only concern is that she's graduating in the summer and I'm at community college right now (was at a university until December but left because of some personal issues, hopefully gonna be at one again in the fall). How much should I worry about being at different points in our lives if it will only be an issue for under a year?
>>
yes. it's fine if you're 60 and she's 18 and willing.

That's pretty cool brah. I doubt any of your friends or family think you're a creep.
>>
it's legal but a lot of people will still question it.

Ethics isn't like a lightswitch. It's the intersection of values and all of the complications which arise from that crossing. You could make a case for either answer. Sure it's ethical, she's nearly an adult and it's not like she'd suddenly have a different view on things after she turns 18 than a handful of months beforehand. But no it's not ethical, because the repercussions of any social or legal consequences you face ("He bought me this cigarettes and beers, I swear") would impact your family and loved ones' reputations as well.

Ethics isn't a permission slip. It's an exercise in thoughtfulness. Think hard and go with the decision that results in such a way that everyone involved gets fair consideration.
