>we've been dating over a year now
>she constantly tells me she "likes me so much, loves things about me, loves spending time with me, I'm the best boyfriend she's ever had." Basically everything short of telling me she loves me
>I feel like she wants me to say it first but because of that screw up a year ago I'm terrified of saying it cause I can't deal with her rejecting it for a second time.

So long story short I feel like after a year it's time for our relationship to take the next step into the "I love you" territory. But we're both too stubborn to be the first to say it. Am I over thinking this?

Just try it again. My girlfriend didn't say it because she was shy. One year and a good relationship and an I love you should be acceptable.
