How do I stop being a picky eater? When I try new foods my gag

How do I stop being a picky eater? When I try new foods my gag reflex kicks up and i nearly throw up my food. I have been picky aboout what I eat for a very long time and woulld like to change that.

Your gag reflex activates whenever the oropharynx is stimulated by a substance, odor, etc. that your body considers foreign.

In theory, you could condition your body to inhibit gagging to continuously attempting consumption of target foods.
