Has anyone successfully applied for a BoA credit card without any credit record? I got rejected twice because apparently they can't approve someone's application without any credit history.
Do I just bring my mummy with me to the bank and have her be a co-signer? Or can I have her apply for the credit card and set myself as the additional cardholder? If I'm the additional cardholder do I still get credit?

I've been using a debit card for 6 years
Apply for a Capital One Cash Rewards card. That was my first credit card - had a $300 limit. I charged most of it every month and then paid it off in full by the due date. In 6 months they bumped my limit up to $1800. My credit score was 850. About a year later I applied for and was approved for American Express Everyday and Discover It with credit limits of $2k each.
I'm not sure that Bank of America is lenient about credit requirements, but CapOne is. Discover and AmEx are pretty hard to get approved for.
