My hair is falling out in clumps. I find it in my apartment, in my sheets, everywhere.

When I shower or just brush my hair it is worse. I find strands everywhere.

Is this a thyroid issue? I also moved across the country for my job a month ago. I don't feel stressed, I don't feel anxious, and I'm loving my new residence and job.

I'm also not overweight, although I do find it hard to wake up, even if I had 9+ hours of sleep. But when I stand up, hormones take over and I'm fine and awake.

Can I go to a GP in the US to get a test and find out how hat exactly is going on? Or do I need an endocrine specialist?

I have thyroid issues OP and
>although I do find it hard to wake up, even if I had 9+ hours of sleep.
was one of the first indicators I had a hormone fuck-up. I only felt rested if I slept 12+ hours. Visit a physician ASAP.

What exactly will happen if I am diagnosed with hypothyroidism or Hashimotos?

How does it affect your life? Was hair falling our another sign for you?
>>

How long did it take for your hair to get back it it's normal thickness?

What meds are you on for this? How much side effects did you experience Iif you had said medication?

My hair wasn't falling out but I was extremely lethargic. A lot of my friends and family would think I was stoned from how I acted. My long-term memory was also completely gone.

If you're diagnosed with hypothyroidism you'll need to take Synthroid until the day you die, which is a single pill every morning before breakfast.

Side effects from pills?

I don't notice me being too sluggish. But I can go for a couple of weeks eating 500 calories per day 6 days in a row and neither gain or lose weight.

Note that I don't go on these "fasts" willingly, but they happen about once every 3 months, and are about 5 days in a row of low appetite at most.

No side effects except for a few minor mood swings when my doc was trying to figure out the appropriate dosage.

Food was another thing too. I only ate two meals every day on average. During the 2-3 years I was going through that shit I lost 80 pounds and became extremely skinny.

Are you. Girl?

It sounds like thyroid bc of the lethargy but just from someone who has been there

A its great you arent anxious
B the hair is probably less noticable to evergone else
C womens hair will regrow, so there is a difference between men who can go permanently bald
D it typically takes about 6 months to feel significant regrowth and 1-3 years to feel back at your "peak"

I had telogen effluvium and it was so scary. I was VERY stressed out already and it almost caused me a nervous breakdown.
I still have nightmares even though it stopped and my hair grew back. I am 4 months postpartum and luckily I know how to deal with the emotions now because there is some shedding with postpartum women. I was also very proactive so it has not been bad.

With telogen effluvium there is no medicine or treatment but some people find that their hair grows back thicker.

Just stay relaxed and see a doctor!

I need to sleep OP, hope you get this sorted out
>>
It might be falling out because of cancer.

Yes, I'm female.

Would prenatal vitamins help? I know I'm not pregnant, not to get too personal but my cycle ended today. I don't experience hair loss during my cycles ever, so I know it isn't those hormones.

You say stay relaxed (I assume you mean don't worry too much) but be active. I have not exercised since I moved, but it's simply because I work more hours, and those hours are physically intense. I don't sit down except on breaks, I lift 50+lbs, etc. Should I still try to do some form of cardio?

Thanks for your help and input!

>Mood swings
Been on Accutane and BC in the past, I'm sure I can deal with this if it is temporary.
