How do people in their early 20s live in big cities like LA or NYC?
Poorfags with minimal help if any from parents
Roommates, networks of friends and friendly people, austere lifestyles and any public or private assistance they can get.

I've lived in Chicago some I was 18. Moved here right after high school, got roommates, worked some shitty jobs to make ends meet. And 7 years later I'm still here, working a better job.
NYC and LA are both more expensive than Chicago though. But neither city should be hard to find a job in.

Just found this room for 650 with 3 roommates and its 80 sq ft. Is this typical pricing for Brooklyn?

Yes, housing in NYC is expensive.
I used to have a one bedroom apartment in Chicago for $600 that was 20 mins train ride away from downtown.

Fuck man. I own a 5 bedroom 2 bath house in Idaho where I pay $800 in mortgage.

600 doesn't seem too bad for NYC though I see people spend that much just on cigarettes and beer

That's fine if you want to be a prison guard or some state road worker

Not my job, but okay, friend.
I work 40 hours a week and go to school full-time. It's hard and it fucking sucks, and all of my money disappears.
But it's what I need to do. So stop complaining and do it.

People kept saying you can't get a room in NYC for that cheap though
How feasible is it to live in LA, making only $1600 a month? Take off $400 off the bat for student loans and car

LA is shit man
Live in San Diego if for some reason you are hellbent on California
>>16498772
I'm not. LA is shit, but I was born and raised in it. It's the best place in regards to wanting to work in film

Jesus Christ
You could probably rent a bedroom in a house in the ghetto near USC and still have enough for food.

If you got roommates and lived away from the cool shit yeah but rent would be like 800 out of that 1200
Mfw house is 5,000 square feet paid for by myself w money I earned when I was 25
