Does anyone know if it is illegal to carry an expendable baton as a civilian in the United States? Been looking around but can't seem to find a clear answer.
I think it's at least illegal in some states. I vaguely recall looking into them and finding out that I couldn't get one.

is it illegal in florida? i know brass knuckles are bad here
it's weird that batons are specifically targeted, but i can carry a similarly sized and weighted metal baseball bat intended for children which is suddenly ok

Not illegal, but I would advise getting a CCW just to cover your bases. Their laws are a bit vague.
May as well go all the way and get an actual firearm at that point though.
